WEDDING ANNOUCEMENT          REID---BRYDGES
On Saturday, July 9th, 1949 at 2 o'clock p.m., St. John's Presbyterian Church, Almonte, was the scene of a lovely summer wedding when Miss Dorothy Ann Brydges, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Brydges, became the bride of Mr. Lloyd Miller Reid, elder son of Mr. and Mrs Murray Reid,
Cedar Hill, with Rev. T. DeCourcy Rayner officiating.
For the occasion  the church was decorated with potted ferns, baskets of delphiniums, roses and
regal lilies.
The guest pews were marked with white satin bows inserted with pansies.
The wedding music was playd by Mrs. Clarence Kellough, Clayton.  The soloist, Mr. George Wylie
sang "O Perfect Love," and "I Love You Truly."
The groom was attended by his brother, Mr. Lyle Reid, and Mr. Robert Brydges, brother of the
bride and Mr. Gordon Lowe, brother-in-law of the groom, were ushers.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of white slipper satin.  It was
styled with fitted bodice, buttoned down the back, with bustle bows, nylon yolk, studded with
seed pearls and rhinestones, and long sleeves coming to a point over her hands.  Her tulle veil,
ending in a train, was held in place by a heart-shaped cornet of seed pearls and rhinestones.  She
carried an arm bouquet of red bettertime roses and maiden hair fern.
The senior bridesmaid, Miss Margaret Fulton, Cedar Hill, wore a floor-length gown of blue sheer
over taffeta, with fitted bodice, buttoned down the back with bustle bows and matching mittens.
Her shoulder length veil was held in place by a blue tulle halo, and she carried an arm bouquet of
pink buttertime roses and maiden hair fern.
The junior bridesmaid, Miss Helen Millett, Ottawa, cousin of the groom, wore a floor length groom,
wore a floor length gown of pink net over taffeta, with ruffled blue and pink tulle and she carried a muff of pink roses and maiden hair fern.
Mrs. John Brydges, mother of the bride, chose a gray printed faille dress, with gray hat and black
accessories.  Her corsage was red roses.  Mrs Reid, mother of the groom, wore a powder blue
dress with navy accessories, and a corsage of red roses.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents to about 70 guests.
The rooms were decorated with pink and white streamers, with white wedding bells and baskets
of mixed flowers.  The table was centered with the bride's cake and pink tapers.
Mrs Robert Templeman and Mrs. Samuel Brydges, grandmother of the bride poured, while six
girl friends of the bride served, namely Misses Irene Gunn, Ruth Turner, Dorothy Craig, Beryl
Jamieson, Jean and Florence Kellough.
Amid showers of confetti and good wishes the young couple left on a motor trip to Niagara Falls,
Toronto and New York State.  For travelling the bride wore a powder bue faille dress with black
shortie coat and black accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
Friends attending were from Ottawa, Arnprior, Kinburn, Galetta, Carleton Place, Almonte, Clayton
and Pakenham.
