John Brydges #2  was born on the 12th Line of Ramsay, Lanark County on Jan 10th, 1900; and died
on June 16th 1972, from a heavy stroke.   His funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, to St. Paul's Church, Almonte with burial at the Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte, conducted by the Venerable John A Salter, assisted by Rev. Herbert Horsey.   The pallbearers were William Gordon, Rollitt Saunders, Durward Washburn, William Drynan, John Munro and George Lowry.
John farmed most of his life on the 9th Line Ramsay (between Almonte and Carleton Place),
retiring in Almonte (residence on Martin St.) at which time he worked with the Town of Almonte
and was Foreman for the town work force.


             CHARMING  WEDDING
    A charming wedding was solemnized at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Almonte, on Wednesday,
Nov. 16 with Rev. W. H. McCracken officiating, when Eva Morlena, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Templeman, was united in marriage to John Hilliard Brydges, second son of Mr. S. Brydges
and the late Mrs. Brydges.  The church was crowded.  The winsome young bride is a grand-niece of
the Hon. William Templeman, minister of inland revenue in the Laurier cabinet, who was owner of the
Victoria Times and founder of the Almonte Gazette.
    The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, wore a beautiful gown of white silk
crepe de chene trimmed with white fur.  Her bridal veil was in cap effect with orange blossoms.  She
wore the gift of the groom, a pearl necklace.  She carried a bouquet of white carnations and
maiden hair fern.
    Miss Irene L. Thompson, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid and wore a gown of peach silk crepe
de chene trimmed with white fur, and large velvet hat.  She carried a bouquet of white carnations and
maiden hair fern.  The groom was supported by his brother Mr. Howard Brydges, Mr. J. D. McCallum
played the wedding music.  The groom's gift to the bride was a string of pearls, to the bridesmaid a
gold bar pin set with a sapphire stone, and to the best man gold cuff links.
    After the cermony the guests, numbering about 35, gathered at the home of the bride's parents,
where a sumptuous wedding supper awaited them.  Rev. W. H. McCracken proposed a toast to the
bride and groom.  Miss Muriel Brydges, Miss Mary Symington and Miss Evelyn Bain waited on the
tables.
    The young couple received many useful and costly gifts among them several cheques,
testifying to the high esteem in which they are held.  Mr. and Mrs. Brydges will reside on the
12th line of Ramsay.
OBITUARY JOHN H. BRYDGES
                  DIES SUDDENLY
The sudden death of John Hillard Brydges, foreman of the town work gang, occurred at 10 p.m. on
Friday evening  June 16, 1972, at the Almonte General Hospital.  Mr. Brydges suffered a heavy
stroke shortly before being removed to the hospital.  An employee of the town for the past ten years,
he was busy at his usual work until five o'clock on the day of his passing.  He was 72.
Born on the 12th line of Ramsay on January 10, 1900, he was a son of the late Samuel Brydges
and his wife, Margaret Young.  He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Almonte.
He was married at Almonte on November 16, 1927, to the former Eva Templeman who predeceased
him in May 1964.
Mr. Brydges is survived by two sons, Robert S. Brydges, R.R. 1, Carleton Place, and John T.
Brydges of Montreal, and one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Reid (Dorothy) of R. R. 3, Almonte
Also surviving are two brothers, Wilbert of R. R. 4, Almonte, and Howard of Arnprior, and three
sisters, Mrs. William Drynan (Myrtle) of Clayton, Mrs. Gilbert Grainger (Ruby), Arnprior, and
Mrs. Clifford Drynan (Rhoda) of Carleton Place.
The funeral was held from the Comba Funeral Home, Church Street, Almonte, to St. Paul's
Church for service on Monday, June 19th , at 2 p.m.   Burial was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery.
The funeral services were conducted by the Venerable John A. Salter, rector of St. Paul's Church,
assisted by Rev. Herbert Horsey.
The pallbearers were William Gordon, Rollitt Saunders, Durward Washburn, William Drynan,
John Munro and George Lowry..

OBITUARY   MRS JOHN BRYDGES              
    After a lengthy illness the death occurred on May 10th, 1964 in Almonte General Hospital of Mrs.John Brydges.
    The funeral was held May 13th from the Comba Funeral Home to the Almonte Presbyterian
Church with burial in Auld Kirk Cemetery.
    The late Mrs. Brydges is survived by her husband Mr. John Brydges, one daughter, Mrs.
Lloyd Reid (Dorothy), two sons, Robert and Jack; her mother Mrs. Robert Templeman and three
sisters; Mrs William Gordon, Mrs Rollitt Saunders and Mrs. T. D. Rayner.
    The pallbearers were Lester Jamieson, Lloyd Watson, Earl Pretty, Ed. Rathwell, William
Drynan and Durward Washburn.
