DEATH THE LANARK ERA Wed. Sept. 2nd. 1914
Carleton Place, Friday, Aug. 28th, Isabella Stewart, wife of the late Robert McFarlane, aged
72 years. Born on the Almonte Road near Lanark , the daughter of Robert Stewart and
Catherine Deachman. There were fourteen children in the family, twelve of whom are
still living; Robert, on the homestead; William, Fallbrook; Thomas, East Grand Forks, Minn.;
Alex, Fargo ND; John, in the Yukon; Mrs. Chas. Woods, Lanark; Mrs. Jas. McGee, Wingham;
Mrs. Alex. Munro, Ardoch; Mrs. Matthew Peacock, Rosetta; Mrs. Wm. Graham, Weedman,
Ont.; and Mrs. Thos. Woods, Lanark Twp. One boy Peter, died many years ago. She
married Robert McFarlane in 1864, living at White Lake for three years before moving to
Lanark, where her husband died Aug. 13th., 1907. They had ten children, two of whom,
Catherine and Stewart, are dead. Those living are; John, at Keene; Robert, at Playfair;
Peter, Alex. and Edward at Altorado, Alta.; James, in Lawson, Sask.; Mrs. Allen Morris and
Mrs. Phil Wright, Carleton Place.
Burial in the Lanark Village cemetery.
DEATH THE LANARK ERA Wed. August 14th., 1907
In Lanark, August 13th., Robert McFarlane, aged 64 years. He was born in Darling and
learned shoemaking from the late Daniel Glossop. He married Isabella Stewart, sister of
Robert Stewart, of Lanark Twp. They had six children; Robert, at Playfair; John, at Keene;
Peter, in Michigan; Alex. at Esmond, ND; and Eddie, also in the USA. Two daughters,
Mrs. Philmon Wright, and Mrs. Allen Morris, live in Lanark.
Burial in Lanark cemetery.
