ALMONTE WOMAN KILLED
CARP---An Almonte woman died and four other persons were injured Wednesday when two cars collided head-on in swirling snow on Highway 17, two miles east of the Carp cut-off.
Dead is Mrs. Mavis Dunfield, 35 Main Street, Almonte, who police think was the driver of
one of the cars involved. She died in Civic Hospital early today.
Mrs. Dunfield's two children, Christopher, 5 and Heather, 7, were treated and released
after the crash. A passenger in the Dunfield auto, Mrs. Edna Fraser, 69, of Queen Street,
Almonte is in serious condition in the Civic with multiple head injuries.
Frank Tremblay, 54, of 1 Isabelle Street, Hull, believed to have been the driver of the
other cae, is in fair condition in the Civic with chest injuries and fractured legs.
OPP said the highway was snow-covered and visibility was poor at the time of the
crash.

Suddenly in hospital, Ottawa on Thursday, Jan. 29'th 1970, Mavis Eleanor Fraser, beloved
wife of Allan Earl Dunfield, dear daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fraser, Almonte, dear
sister of Barry, Gananoque and Maurice of Welland, in her 36'th year. Resting at the
Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin Street, Almonte for service on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Interment Auld Kirk Cemetery.
